The Plant Based Foods Alliance (PBFA) is the first trade association in the U.K representing the nation’s leading plant-based foods companies in partnership with allied non-profit organisations. PBFA’s mission is to champion, strengthen, and elevate our members and the plant-based foods industry within the UK and to build connections to other international plant-based alliances. We are searching for a part-time Policy Director to join our team and help us grow the Alliance.
The Policy Director will conduct policy research and analysis and be the advocate to advance the interest of our members and the plant-based foods industry in alignment with PBFA’s mission. In particular, the Policy Director will assist in shaping and executing strategies to increase and protect plant-based food inclusion in policy that support a transition to plant-based food systems at local and national levels.
Some of the responsibilities include:
- Drafting documents, including letters, policy briefs, fact sheets, legislative outlines, op-eds and consultation responses to support PBFA’s policy priorities.
- Speaking publicly and on behalf of PBFA on the benefits and regulation of plant-based foods
- Meeting Government ministers and officials on nutritional, agricultural, industrial and public health policy.
- Cultivating relationships with other non-profit organisations, including those focused on environmental sustainability, public health, and food justice, to build alliances and support for policies that promote plant-based foods.
- Ensuring that PBFA is poised to respond quickly and effectively to policy and political developments.
- Develop and maintain relationships with parliamentarians and assembly members to influence the outcome of state legislation and expand the caucus of political representatives supportive of plant-based foods across the four nations.
We are looking for someone with experience working with government and parliament with a deep understanding of politics and policy issues and/or experience navigating complex topics. An appreciation for plant-based foods is a plus!
This is a part-time, self-employed role and you must be able and willing to work remotely and to your own hours.
If you are interested drop us an email on info@plantbasedfoodalliance.co.uk for the full job spec.
